Excelsior Springs School District Announces New Lewis Elementary Assistant Principal
The Excelsior Springs School District is pleased to announce Mrs. Jessica Himbury as the next Assistant Principal of Lewis Elementary for the upcoming school year.
Mrs. Himbury brings a strong background in elementary education and instructional leadership. She began her career at Lewis Elementary and has spent 11 years in the classroom, primarily teaching kindergarten and first grade, including 10 years serving students in Excelsior Springs. For the past five years, she has served as an instructional coach, partnering with teachers and staff across the district to support high-quality instruction and student learning.
We are excited about the experience, leadership, and passion Mrs. Himbury will bring to Lewis Elementary and the Excelsior Springs community.
When asked about stepping into this new role, Mrs. Himbury shared:
“I am incredibly excited to step into the Assistant Principal role at Lewis Elementary this upcoming school year. I began my career at Lewis and spent 11 years in the classroom, primarily teaching kindergarten and first grade, with 10 of those years here in Excelsior Springs. Those early years shaped who I am as an educator and grounded me in the importance of strong relationships, high expectations, and doing what’s best for kids every single day.
For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as an instructional coach across the district, partnering with teachers and staff to support instruction and student learning. That experience has pushed my thinking, strengthened my leadership, and deepened my appreciation for the incredible work happening in classrooms across ESSD. It has also reinforced my belief that the best outcomes for students come from collaboration, consistency, and a shared commitment to growth.
I am ecstatic to move into this leadership role and continue building strong, meaningful relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. Lewis is an incredible place—the place to be—and I am honored to step into this role ready to support, learn, and lead alongside a team that is already doing amazing work. I’m excited to build on that momentum and continue serving the Lewis community in this new capacity.”
