After working as a Teaching and Learning Coach and Assistant Principal in the North Kansas City School District for the past five years, I am coming home. I was recently named the principal of Lewis Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year.
I am a proud alumnus of Excelsior Springs High School and graduated in 1984. In 1988, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Missouri Valley College. I received a Master’s Degree in Special Education and an Education Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership from University of Missouri-Kansas City.
During my 29 years in education, I have taught high school and elementary special education, third grade, fourth grade, served as a teaching and learning coach, and for the past 2 years I have been the assistant principal at Northview Elementary in the North Kansas City School District.
I live in Excelsior Springs with my husband Dave and my daughters Madeline (15) and Paige (19). Madeline is a freshman at ESHS and Paige graduated in 2016 from ESHS and is completing her freshman year at UCM. I have 2 older daughters- Jinny and Megan who are married and have families of their own. I am also the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren- Nora, Charlotte, Sloane, Max, Ben, and Jillian.
I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to Lewis Elementary and work with Lewis staff, students, and their families. I believe every step along the way in my career has prepared me for this new adventure. I consider it a privilege and I know together we are going to accomplish great things for kids!
