Excelsior Springs School District Announces New Elkhorn Elementary Principal

The Excelsior Springs School District is pleased to announce Mr. Nicholas Younts as the next Principal of Elkhorn Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year.

Mr. Younts brings over two decades of experience in education, including the past seven years serving as a building administrator in the Independence School District. Most recently, he has served as principal of Fairmount Elementary. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of roles, including early childhood educator, before- and after-school program leader, third and fourth grade teacher, mentor to new teachers, and assistant principal.

We are excited about the leadership, experience, and energy Mr. Younts will bring to Elkhorn Elementary and the Excelsior Springs community.

When asked about joining Elkhorn, Mr. Younts shared:

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as principal of Elkhorn Elementary because of the district’s strong sense of community, commitment to students, and focus on high-quality instruction. Elkhorn’s reputation for supporting both students and staff aligns closely with my beliefs about what makes a school successful—strong relationships, a positive culture, and a shared commitment to continuous growth.

After 23 years in education, I am energized by the opportunity to bring my experience to a new community while continuing to grow as a leader. I look forward to collaborating with staff, building meaningful connections with students and families, and contributing to a school culture where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.”

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Younts to the Excelsior Springs School District.
