Welcome Dr. Laura Hartman – New ESHS Principal
We are excited to announce that during the Tuesday, May 13th, Board of Education meeting, Dr. Laura Hartman was named the next Principal of Excelsior Springs High School. She brings over 18 years of experience in education, including the last 10 years as a successful administrator.
Dr. Hartman grew up in St. Charles, Missouri, and attended Francis Howell High School before moving to the Kansas City area in 2005. Her educational journey includes a Bachelor’s degree from Lindenwood University, a Master’s from Northwest Missouri State University, an Educational Specialist from UMKC, and a Doctorate in Education from William Woods University.
Dr. Hartman began her career at Lee’s Summit West High School, teaching English and coaching cheer, dance, and the Scholar Team. She then served in the Liberty School District as an English teacher, administrative intern, and Summer School Principal at Liberty High School before taking on administrative roles in the Kearney and Park Hill School Districts. Most recently, she has served as Assistant Principal at the LEAD Innovation Studio in Park Hill.
Dr. Hartman and her husband, a dedicated music educator in the Liberty School District, have been married for 17 years. They have two children, Cami (15) and Barrett (14), who are actively involved in choir, theater, football, and basketball. Their family also includes their energetic Boston Terrier, Lloyd.
“I’m excited to join this incredible community and work alongside students, staff, and families to build on the great work that is already happening,” shared Dr. Hartman. “I’m especially passionate about ensuring that every student graduates ESHS with a clear and meaningful plan for success after high school. I can’t wait to get started and collaborate with the dedicated staff at ESHS to help our students thrive!”
Dr. Hartman will officially begin her new role on July 1.
